There are no activities planned for this day, so just relax and drink plenty of water. If you arrive early we may be able to organize an additional tour for you, or simply give you directions to the nearest beach.

Day 2 Santa Marta

Minca – A Breath of Fresh Mountain Air
Travel to the small town of Minca, breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy a tour of this wonderful little mountain pueblo.

Enjoy a tour of this small artisan town, along with a tour of a coffee plantation and Cocoa Plantation (perhaps you’ll enjoy a cocoa facemask), some amazing hidden waterfalls (opportunity for a refreshing swim), and of course, you’re bound to spot a few exotic birds in your travels. You may spot woodpeckers, hummingbirds, macaws, toucans and various other species.

Day 3 Santa Marta

Tayrona National Park – Cabo San Juan

Cabo San Juan in the Tayrona Park is a mixture of environments where you can find tropical jungle on one side of you, and beautiful white sands, and the Caribbean blue ocean on the other. Together this mix of nature forms a perfect Caribbean landscape.

You’ll be taken to Tayrona park and enjoy a 2-hour ecological walk through the jungle and visit 4 beaches along the way including Arenillas, La Piscina, Cabo San Juan and Los Arrecifes.
You’ll also enjoy some fantastic beach time (approx. 3 hours), along with time to explore the area or partake of some watersports, such as snorkeling.
After your beach-time has passed you’ll enjoy a 1.3-hour walk through the jungle and your waiting transportation.
During your ecological walks, you will learn about the local environment and the local indigenous. You’ll learn about what native animals can be seen and or heard. Your guide will also be safeguarding your possessions while you’re relaxing in the temperate waters and taking as many photos as you may need.

Day 4 Santa Marta

Free Day or Kogi Indigenous Village or Playa Cristal
Free Day: Relax and make your own plans for today or enjoy one of 2 additional tour options.

#1 If you’d like to spend time with one of the oldest cultures in Colombia, then you’ll absolutely love this tour!
You will be collected from your hotel and be driven in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle to a meeting point in Palomino. Once here you’ll be transferred to the back of a motorbike for the next stage of this adventure.
You’ll absolutely love the scenery as you cruise with the air in your hair for around 1 hour to get to the Kogi Village of Tungueca. Once here you’ll meet with the smiling indigenous children, who’ll be expecting a small gift, so please don’t disappoint; candy, books, toy, etc. (Suggested value of gift $2 USD).
You’ll be visiting and interacting with their culture for approximately an hour. You’ll see how they live and enjoy their simple life away from the cities, before heading off to take a refreshing swim nearby. Followed by another ride on the motorbikes back to Palomino and your waiting transport to get home.

#2 If you prefer some beach time, choose the second option: an excursion to Playa Cristal in Tayrona National Park. Your tour includes a lookout over Seven Waves beach, two boat rides and a beach with crystal clear waters. Enjoy four to five hours of beach time.

Day 5 Santa Marta / Cartagena

Transfer to Cartagena + Day/Night City Tour

Today, you will journey to Cartagena to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site on a day/night tour.

Travel along the coast and the mountains to the walled city of Cartagena. Check-in at your hotel, relax and then set out on a city tour in the late afternoon at 4.30 p.m.

This will give you an opportunity to see the superb sights and Old Town in the sunlight and in the night. You’ll discover the most important sites and see then get a whole new perspective on this ancient place, illuminated at night. Take in the colonial architecture, the vibrant streets and feel the lively atmosphere. The area has shops, museums, and cafés too.

It’s sure to be a memorable visit!

Day 6 Cartagena

Rosario Islands
It’s time for some island fun in the Caribbean waters!

Head out in the morning in your air-conditioned vehicle to the Wharf of Bodeguita. From this pier, you’ll board a speedboat for a breathtaking ocean cruise, touring the Rosario Islands on a day trip.

Arrive at a scenic beach where you will be assigned your personal beach space — exclusive to you and members of your group for the entire day.

You will receive a cocktail on arrival, full beach service, a delicious traditional lunch, use of deckchairs and umbrellas, and interact with English-speaking hosts. No pesky beach vendors or souvenir sellers here.

You can also hire equipment for snorkeling, paddle-boarding or kayaking. Or just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet!

This will be one of the highlights of your Caribbean adventure!

Day 7 Cartagena

Free Day or Mud-Volcano and Mangroves Tour
Today is at your leisure. Spend your time as you wish: you can see more of Cartagena or go for an optional additional Mangrove and Mud-Volcano tour.

Traveling to the Mud Volcano of Totumo, where you’ll climb up into this natural phenomenon and enjoy a relaxing mud bath and a mud massage by local experts. Following this, you will be cleaned from head to toe by locals dedicated to removing every piece of mud they can find. But there’s always some hard to find pieces(in those delicate places), which is why you’ll be enjoying a swim in the temperate Caribbean ocean.

Following this you’ll enjoy a typical Caribbean meal and a bit of relaxation before continuing onto the second part of today’s tour; a voyage through the Cartagena mangroves by canoe navigated by a local fisherman. You’ll discover the importance of this ecosystem and the vast array of wildlife that lives within. Your captain (local fisherman) actually lives in a nearby village and you’ll get a chance to enjoy a walk through their community shortly.
