It’s no secret that COVID-19  devastated the economy of Colombia along and the hardest sector hit by the Coronavirus is the tourism and hospitality sector. Many hotels, restaurants, and tour agencies have closed their doors or changed hands at rock bottom prices.

I am happy to say that here at BnB Colombia Tours we have been able to weather this storm and can see the light at the end of the tunnel, with vaccinated tourists starting to venture into this amazing country once again. Read on to see our personal travel advice…

As of today (24th of July, 2021) in Colombia:

  • Borders are open and travelers may enter by land, sea, and air from any country with the exceptions of Venezuela and India.
  • No covid test is required to enter Colombia.
  • No quarantine is required when entering Colombia
  • 1 – 24 hours before arrival/departure into/from Colombia a Check-Mig form must be submitted.
  • Facemasks are required to be worn in all public areas and public transportation.
  • Restaurants and bars in most of Colombia are open with social distancing regulations and health measures in place.
  • Biosecurity protocols are in place in public places and businesses. Such as hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes, banks, markets, beaches, national parks, taxis, buses, airports, schools, universities. These protocols include the use of face masks, washing hands, and social distancing.
  • Mobility restrictions are in place within some destinations of Colombia. For example, Cartagena maintains a curfew between the hours of 12am and 5am. There are exceptions to this, such as if your flight into/out of Cartagena is within these hours, you are permitted to travel to/from the airport.
  • Current infection rate of COVID-19 is at 50% of the peak registered on June 29th.
  • 4,692,570 infections, 4,462,579 recovered and 117,836 coronavirus-related deaths.
  • 24.4% fully vaccinated (approximately), everyone over the age of 18 eligible to receive the vaccine.
  • 35 days to vaccinate 10% more of the population at the current rate (approximately).
  • 2.5 million doses of Jhonson and Jhonson 1 shot covid-19 vaccine will be provided to Colombia from the USA. This will allow for an additional 5% of the population to be vaccinated.

Our advice for travelers planning on visiting the beautiful country of Colombia is to start the planning now and to set your start date to September 2021 and onwards. We believe due to the ongoing vaccine programs in Colombia and other countries, that the worst is truly behind us and travelers will not have any travel restrictions going forward.
