Your day will begin with a 9 am pickup from your Bogotá accommodation when you’ll be driven in a comfortable vehicle to the base of Monserrate. Here you’ll climb to the summit (almost 2000 ft / 600 m above Bogotá) by using the funicular with its breathtaking views of Bogotá as you ascend.
Once you have reached the top, you’ll have time to explore the beautiful 17th century Monserrate Monastery, the extensive artisan markets, and take in the awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Capital of Colombia. Once you have absorbed the fantastic scenery, culture and checked out the handicrafts of this must-see destination at an altitude of 10,341 ft (3152m) you’ll make the descent down to the city of Bogotá, but this time using the teleferico (aerial tramway) for a different experience and perspective.
From here you’ll make your way the short distance to La Candelaria and begin the next part of this fantastic day. In this segment of your tour, you will visit all of the most important places in the oldest part of this magnificent city, including stops at the Plaza Chorro de Quevedo, the Gabriel García Márquez Cultural Center, Plaza de Santander, Plazoleta del Rosario, Plaza de Bolívar and the spectacular church of La Candelaria as well.
During your excursion through La Candelaria, you’ll be taking a break for lunch at one of the many options of fantastic restaurants and also visiting the world-famous Museo del Oro. Here you’ll have time to explore the most elaborate display of pre-hispanic gold in the world with over 55,000 pieces spread out over 3 floors with labels in both Spanish and English.
Once you have concluded your expedition through the museum you’ll continue on your excursion through La Candelaria before being driven back to your Bogotá accommodation with an expected arrival of approximately 5 pm.
