THINGS TO DO AT PARQUE ARVI

This ecological reserve offers pristine forests, diverse ecosystems, and 33 miles (54 km) of hiking and biking trails for a variety of activities.
Parque Arví

Parque Arví is not just all about stunning landscapes; it is where you will find tremendous biodiversity. Over 70 species of birds, 72 species of butterflies and 19 species of mammals call this place home. Orchid enthusiasts will delight in discovering unusual and rare orchid species thriving throughout the park.

Parque Arví, blessed with this tremendous diversity, has almost 300 species of native trees and plants. One endemic species to Colombia is the black anthurium, which surprises visitors due to its limited geographical distribution.
It is found only in Antioquia and parts of the Eje Cafetero. Due to its vulnerability, efforts are underway to restore its population in the forest.
Other plants that attract a lot of attention are the orchids. There are some orchids so small that you have to use a magnifying glass to see them.
There are also the lichens, which are a symbiosis between an algae and a fungus, similar to sponges.
Even though some trees are not native to Colombia – the pine trees, cypresses and others – the contrast between these foreign species and the native vegetation is like an enchanted forest.
Here are some more of the many activities to be experienced and enjoyed at Parque Arví:
Cultural Centre Ignacio Vélez Escobar
Explore the heart of Parque Arví’s cultural and artistic scene, the Ignacio Vélez Escobar Environmental & Cultural Centre.
