BATIS FOUNDATION

Batis is a call to action for those who want to be part of the change towards a sustainable and balanced environment. Established in 2016 and based in Puerto Colombia, Atlántico, Colombia, it is a non-profit research centre and multi-faceted organization with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and community engagement.
The foundation was created by an interdisciplinary team of professionals passionate about applying scientific methodologies to socio-cultural and environmental research. Their primary objective is to promote environmental sustainability through comprehensive actions aimed at social welfare and nature conservation.
OVERVIEW
The Batis Foundation or Fundación Batis is committed to protecting and regenerating the eco-systems that surround them, recognizing that they are part of nature. The aim is to promote a sustainable future through their work and collaboration with communities and organizations.
Core Objectives and Operations:
They focus on several specific areas to achieve their mission:
- Environmental Consulting:
Offer advisory services to public and private entities to align their operations with sustainable development goals and environmental management standards. - Community Engagement:
Through volunteering programs and workshops, encourage reconnection between humans and nature, fostering environmental awareness and education. - Ecotourism Experiences:
Develop activities that allow participants to reconnect with nature and experience a deep connection with the environment. - Environmental Education and Awareness:
Programs and activities promote environmental awareness, protection and commitment through knowledge and action. - Fundación Batis has developed an ecotourism component, where they offer experiences that allow visitors to reconnect with nature.
They provide activities that allow people to experience a deep connection with the earth, having developed what is called the Recotono Batis tourist experience. It is important to realise that their tourism activities are based around their core objective of environmental sustainability.
So it is more accurate to say that they incorporate tourism into their environmental work, rather than operate as a conventional travel agency.
While Fundación Batis is not a travel agency in the traditional sense, it operates eco-tourism initiatives designed to educate and involve participants in local ecosystems, offering various ecotourism experiences that combine nature exploration with gastronomic elements:
- Tour Recotono Batis:
A guided tour through the foundation’s ecosystems, including the mangrove forests and tropical dry forest surrounding their base, culminating in a unique gastronomic experience in their agro-ecological garden.
This initiative combines environmental restoration with the revival of ancestral plant knowledge, providing participants with a holistic experience of natural and gastronomic restoration. - Tour Recotono Bosques:
An immersive experience delving into the secrets of the mangrove and tropical dry forest eco-systems, featuring activities like mangrove planting and wildlife observation. - Tour Naturaleza y Gastronomía:
This tour combines nature exploration with a comprehensive gastronomic experience, allowing participants to connect with nature while enjoying organic produce from the foundation’s garden.
In summary, Batis operates as a research centre and ecotourism provider with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability, community engagement and education. Their initiatives offer valuable opportunities for collaboration with those seeking to enhance their eco-friendly offerings.
