Club Lagos de Caujaral

+57 5 359 8546

Situated just outside the industrial port city of Barranquilla, the Club Lagos de Caujaral is named after the cajuaro cactus tree that grows as much as 12m/40’ tall, found along that particular stretch of the Atlantic coastline.

Shortly after the club was formed in 1968, it enlisted the services of a famous American course designer to lay out a course on a heavily wooded site close to Lake Caujaral. This work was completed in 1972.

Embellished with a natural environment of lakes the 18-hole golf course is cataloged by the Colombian Golf Federation as one of the best in Colombia and South America for its natural beauty and degree of arduousness.

Caujaral is not a long course by any means, measuring a modest 6,585 yards from the back markers. There is no great proliferation of water hazards, with holes 2, 4, 7 and 8 on the front nine and a couple of holes near the end of the round are the only ones aquatically challenged.

Bunkers are in place to guide shots rather than act as penal traps.

Unfolding across undulating terrain, the course presents a diverse playing experience. The front nine meanders through a parkland layout, offering expansive fairways always aided with a gentle breeze. The back nine takes a sharper turn, with water features coming into play on many holes, demanding more precise shot selection and a steady hand.

One of the notable features of the Club Lagos de Caujaral golf course is its commitment to incorporating natural elements into the design. Bunkers strategically placed throughout the course add a layer of complexity, requiring strategic shot-making to navigate successfully. The undulating terrain and water features contribute to the visual appeal of the course while presenting additional challenges for golfers to overcome.

Signature Holes:

Several holes stand out as testaments to the course’s design and beauty:

  • Hole 6: This picturesque par 3, known as Island Green, features a green perched on a small island in the middle of a lake, testing the nerve and accuracy of even the most experienced golfer.
  • Hole 17: this dramatic par 4 offers breathtaking views of the surrounding lakes and city. A strategically placed dogleg with water guarding the fairway and a challenging green complex makes it a heart-pounding finale to the back nine.

Club Lagos de Caujaral is not just about golf. Set amidst the greenery lies a comfortable clubhouse, where a welcoming restaurant serves up delicious Colombian and international cuisine. After your round, you can unwind on the terrace, appreciate the views and share stories with fellow golfers. The club also offers a pro shop stocked with all the latest equipment and apparel, ensuring you are ready to tackle the course in style.

For those seeking additional activities, Club Lagos de Caujaral has something for everyone. Take a refreshing dip in the pool, work out in the modern gym, or enjoy a game of tennis on the club’s courts. If relaxation is your preference, indulge in a spa treatment or simply soak up the sun by the poolside.

Club Lagos de Caujaral is a hidden gem, offering a welcome escape from the city’s bustling energy. Whether you are a seasoned golfer seeking a challenging course or a casual player looking for a scenic getaway, this club promises an unforgettable experience.

With its diverse layout, picturesque lakes and welcoming atmosphere, Club Lagos de Caujaral is where golfing blends seamlessly with Colombian charm, creating a paradise for those who love the game and the vibrant spirit of the country.
