Located at an elevation of 172 meters/564 feet above sea level, Casanare is a department in the central-eastern region of Colombia that has a tropical wet and dry or savanna climate. Its capital is Yopal and contains oil fields and an 800 km pipeline running to the coastal port of Coveñas.
