Minca Yellow Throated Toucan
Minca Yellow-Throated Toucan

Minca is a peaceful village in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It has a rich archaeological history and is an ecological paradise. With a cooler climate, refreshing mountain streams and waterfalls, and amazing biodiversity. The sunrises, the sky full of birds, and the incredible jungle-covered mountains all resonate with a peace that bathes every corner of this beautiful natural backdrop.

La Guajira (Only available in the High-End 11-day Complete Caribbean Tour) was always a distant and inhospitable place, the capital of which is Riohacha, a large and dilapidated city where the vallenato sounds on every corner.
The most famous landscape is Cabo de la Vela, a village of humble ranchitos. The landscape of Cabo de la Vela is unique and evokes a lunar scene. There is a constantly strong wind that permits clear nights to allow star gazing at its finest.

While in Manaure let yourself be carried away by the desert. The famous and exotic Salinas (salt mines) de Manaure are naturally dried by the sun and wind until the salt is ready to be harvested.

Finally, but not least, the Mayapo beaches are absolutely glorious and are where you can find indigenous Wayúu handicrafts to take home. They too are famous for their strong winds, which attract aficionados of water sports such as kitesurfing and windsurfing.
It is a beautiful place, particularly because few tourists come here and prefer to choose better-known beaches at Riohacha.
Mayapo is one of those places that is worthwhile visiting, a pueblo of natives, some tourists, and little commercial activity. It has completely white fine sand, and a sea of crystalline waters in different tones of green. Enjoy their customs and their gastronomy. Experience a goat dish and drink chicha and chirrinchi, typical drinks that are prepared based on the fermentation of fruit peels. Participate in the chichamaya dances with long colorful costumes.
