The culture is vibrant with music everywhere. Brightly painted walls, bougainvillea flowing out over balconies, and ice-cold drinks to stay revitalized paint a picture-perfect postcard. It is an electrifying city full of colonial history, beautiful architecture and warm, friendly people. This is a city that can both charm and surprise. A place that feels so real, so well preserved and so authentic to its history and culture. Tropical temperatures, boldly coloured streets and salsa clubs awash with revellers until the witching hour.
Cartagena is now one of the most visited cities in the world, with so much to enjoy there – the warm Caribbean climate, the beautiful historic Walled City, unique blends of cultures, and nearby beaches. Climate
The climate of Cartagena is tropical, with a rainy season from May to November and a dry period from December to April. October stands out as the wettest month.
The city is located in the north of Colombia, on the coast of the Caribbean Sea, in the department of Bolívar. In front of the bay of Cartagena, there is the Isla de Tierra Bomba, while to the south is the peninsula of Barú, sometimes called the island of Barú.

Places to stay
When it comes to finding the perfect place to stay in Cartagena, one is spoiled for choice. From luxurious hotels in the heart of the Old City to more budget-friendly options in the surrounding neighborhoods, there is something for everyone.
There are two main areas from which to choose to stay here, the Old Walled City or the new, more modern Bocagrande, the Miami Beach of Cartagena. They each have their pros and cons however, that being said, the city beaches are nothing compared to the beaches outside of the city like Barú or Rosario, so this is a strong enough pro to stay in the Old Walled City with Getsemaní, just outside the city walls probably the best.
The trendy Getsemaní barrio holds its own against the old city, with vibrant street art, thriving cafés, bars and restaurants and some of Cartagena’s best museums. It an interesting and refreshingly safe place to stroll through no matter the time. Best Neighborhoods.
